One Time Forfeit Bonds
and the procedures for return of bonds

 BONDS AND REFUNDS OF BONDS

Bonds are a one-time forfeit bond fee charged each team upon entering our league. From this bond, teams will be charged any outstanding fines, forfeits, referee fees or unplayed games at the end of the season. Teams must replenish the bond to the full amount ($300) before the team is permitted to register again for the league. Failure to do so will result in the forfeiture of the bond.

Bonds are NOT returned at the end of each season or seasonal year. The bond carries forward each season until the team either graduates out, folds, or does not return to the league. The performance bond will be returned only to teams who request the funds.

In order for your bond to be returned to you, we will need written (email notification) no later than 6 months after the conclusion of the last season your team played. For example, Spring season ends at the end of June. Team/club will have until the end of December of that same year to send notification requesting the bond be returned. The team’s history will be reviewed for any fines, forfeits, referee fees or unplayed games that may be outstanding that would reduce the amount of the bond returned.

Effective January 2011, the MSSL Board of Directors has approved a revision of the performance bond policy: Bond amounts for teams who choose to support Soccer For All or who do not request the return of the bond within specified time period, will be donated at the end of each calendar year to the MSSL Foundation.

Teams may request their bond returned to them or, upon signing the bond donation letter, donate the bond to the MSSL Foundation and designate the money be donated to any of the programs listed below.

In order to support the initiatives of the MSSL Foundation and its partners, the MSSL Board of Directors has approved a revision in the policy for the return of performance bond money. Download Bond Donation letter here

The Soccer For All and Cleats for Kids programs are both funded by the MSSL Foundation and we need your help to continue to develop and grow these initiatives.

Soccer For All provides soccer programs free of charge to inner city youth, serving “at risk” youth as well as players with special needs. In 2010, Soccer For All served more than 700 kids in New Jersey. Our primary goal is to raise additional funds in order to serve even more children, to offer healthy life choices, alternatives to gangs, and help combat childhood obesity.

Cleats for Kids collects used gear and distributes it to children in the US and around the world. The program works with Clubs to bring used gear to the leagues, tournaments or meetings that we manage, or to run local drives to collect and distribute gear.

The MSSL Foundation has also developed an alliance with the Claudio Reyna Foundation. Based on a single shared vision, we are combining our strengths and resources in order to provide more services together than we would be able to do separately.

The New Jersey State Police recently hosted a soccer tournament for police, military and security professionals with proceeds going to Soccer For All, highlighted by a game between the Trenton Police Department and a team of teenagers from Trenton’s Soccer For All ; these teenagers play in the program, help to manage the younger children, and attend referee classes.   Together with the Claudio Reyna Foundation, the New Jersey State Police plan to host the New Jersey Police United & Soccer For All tournament.

We would like to stress that donating your bond is completely voluntary. If you do not wish to donate your bond, we will need written (email notification) no later than 6 months after the conclusion of the last season your team played. The team’s history will be reviewed for any fines, forfeits, referee fees or unplayed games that may be outstanding that would reduce the amount of the bond returned.

We hope that you will present this to your team as an opportunity to give back to the game that your families and players have enjoyed and to support others to have the opportunity to play the game.
